NFL FLAG IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS
The NFL Flag program aims to use Flag Football to introduce young people to the NFL, American Football and inspire the next generation of players. In early 2026 a pilot NFL Flag Secondary School program will be the first of many Tournament Championships to come.
The NFL Flag curriculum is available for Secondary School teachers to include in their PE classes. In 2026 a U15 tournament will be available for year 8 & 9 students across New Zealand.

Access to coaches & support
Invitation to NFL Flag tournaments*
*For year 7 & 8 students
Following the 6-week NFL Flag curriculum, schools will be invited to participate in their local Regional Championship, where they will compete alongside schools in their region. Secondary Schools who teach year 8 & 9 students (U15) are eligible to submit a team of 10 to NFL Flag Secondary School Tournaments. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICPATE IN THE NFL FLAG PROGRAM?

The NFL Flag program is offered to schools who teach year 8 & 9 students due to the structure of the global program and opportunities to compete in the USA.
I TEACH STUDENTS WHO ARE IN YEAR 9 AND ABOVE. CAN I STILL TEACH NFL FLAG AT SCHOOL?

Yes. Secondary Schools across New Zealand can still for NFL Flag and teach to students as part of their PE curriculum. Teachers will have access to the training course and curriculum. However, these students won't be eligible to enter an NFL Flag tournament.
HOW DO I ACCESS THE NFL FLAG CURRICULUM?

You must register your school for the NFL Flag program by filling out the NFL Flag New Zealand Registration form.
